Shared our story in r/dogdistributionsystem and was told you guys might like it too :)
My husband and I are from the UK but relocated to Costa Rica with our 2 cats 18 months ago; the stray issue is bad here, we immediately adopted 2 little local stray kittens who were desperate for homes (we’re more cat people, but we’re animal people first, I would NEVER turn a blind eye to suffering) and then a few months ago we were out on a hike with friends when we came across this sad little scrawny thing; clearly been ditched - she broke my heart, we couldn’t leave her…
So with no idea how she’d get on with the cats and absolutely zero experience being a dog parent, we bundled her up and drove her home. She has been such a joy, she really struggled with toilet training and is still a nightmare when off the lead but she’s the bestest girl and she IS learning, she loves the cats (they wish she didn’t) she loves having a home and she loves eating the sofa 🥲
My tiny house is getting incredibly full but we wouldn’t have it any other way; as soon as the extension is built I’m adopting a neonate kitten that Toast can help me raise so she has a friend just for her, she’s a beautiful loving little soul and I hope whoever abandoned her has an absolutely horrible life 💕
